THE QUICKNESS.

I’m really outgoing and I love to make people laugh. If they don’t laugh, I laugh at myself. I’m very easy to get along with. Looks are deceiving and I try to make friends with as many people possible. I love hanging out with my friends and sometimes I call into work/don’t do homework/lose sleep just to spend time… even if we don’t do anything productive. I have five (5) best friends, but we’re more like brothers. I have a particular friend whose primary mission is to help me become a better person :) . I’d rather play NBA2K9 than sit at a slot machine. I watch food network and cartoon network religiously… I eat a big bowl of cereal everyday. It’s really easy to forget that time is short. I forget names very easily, but faces are easy to remember. My number one favorite food are chips and salsa :) . My life revolves around dance and the army – a new breed. I express art through choreography and leadership through the day-by-day routine I live. I always want to be the one in charge, the one who’s responsible for everything, whether that be a positive or negative characteristic. I’m strong hearted and strong willed, and I love to be that positive influence to the people around me. Music is my heart, mind, and soul… my life.

Biography

Steven Jay De Jesus was born in Modesto, California on December 12th, 1985. In 1990, he moved to Las Vegas with this parents and sister, Steve, Tess, and Stephanie. He grew up in a strict household, where his grades where made to be his main focus. He attended Bonanza High School, where he started the Junior ROTC program, and made his decision to join the Army National Guard his senior year to pay for college. Jay attended UNLV and started his major in Management Information Systems, simultaneously continuing on in the Senior ROTC program. In 2005, he went to Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina for three months. Soon after, Jay joined the Las Vegas based group, Meccamee, where he would develop his choreography and craft of hip hop dance. Balancing his life through school, the army, outside work, and dance, he was able to go to Airborne school at Ft. Benning, Georgia in the summer of 2006. While the hip hop dance scene was growing even larger, so were the shows and  competitions that Meccamee became a part of. Jay graduated UNLV and commissioned as an officer in the Army on August 16th, 2008, and started his active duty status that following Monday. He has traveled to many places to teach choreography, trying to spread as much knowledge as he can to many dancers. In November, 2008, Jay moved to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for Basic Officer Leader’s Course phase II and phase III, where he graduated April 28, 2009. His new assignment at Fort Knox, Kentucky, will start on June 15th, as part of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division. Jay does not plan to stop teaching anytime soon, as he tries to seize as many opportunities as possible.
